2. The slave’s duty

This theory has been one of the most sensible option that most fans prefer. Baahibali: The Begining made it clear that Kattappa was a slave of Mahishmati’s king and had to follow his orders. It is speculated that Bahubali left his throne to marry Devasena and live as a normal villager, giving the throne to Bhallala Deva. However, as the newly vowed King was also in love with Devasena he asked Kattappa to kill Bahubali.

3. Sivagami played bait

Bahubali: The Begining showed Sivagami sacrifice her life trying to save Amarendra Bahubali’s son, Shiva. However, before dying, Sivagami was shown to be guilty of some of her actions in the past. According to this fan theory, Bahubali married Devasena against Sivagami’s wishes and was therefore dethroned. However, when Bhala Dev took the throne, he decided to kill Shivadu (Shiva), Bahubali as well as Devasena. Shivagami wanted to save Bahubali’s son and therefore asked Kattappa to kill Bahubali so that she could escape with his son in the mean time!

5. Kattappa’s choice

This theory suggests that Kattappa could have saved either Amarendra Bahubali or his son Shiva and his wife, Sivagami. And Kattappa made this choice as he thought about the future of Mahishmati and the well-being of the entire kingdom.

6. Amarendra Bahubali is alive

There is one particular still in the trailer of Baahubali: The Conclusion which shows Kattappa surrendering to Bahubali after the stabbing scene. This theory seems to be inspired by this scene and Game of Thrones. The theory suggests that Kattappa and Bahubali planned the fake death of Amarendra Bahubali and took him into hiding.
