How to take in the waist on a pair of jeans
Take a five-inch piece of elastic and measure seven inches along the inside of your waistband at the back of your jeans. Cut two slit marks through the first layer of denim (not all the way through the waistband) using a seam ripper. Attach a safety pin to one end of your elastic and thread it through one of the slits, making sure to sew the other end to the jeans. Pull the elastic right to the opening of the other slit and use the safety pin to secure in place while you sew it down.
How to distress your denim
Use chalk to outline the area you would like to distress and put cardboard inside the shorts to protect the other side. Use a pocket knife to cut horizontal lines within the boxes Throw in the washing machine and dryer. Use tweezers to pull out the fibers further.
